Really great, until after castle 3

First, let me say that this is a very, very well-made game! The RPG elements and faction system were nice. It was very fun, up until castle 3. Explanation as follows:

I played through and did every side-quest for my factions up through the third castle. And then suddenly the arches guarding the bridge were *way* stronger than me. So I had to spend a bunch of time clicky-click-click leveling (which is repetitive and not-fun). After I was powerful enough, I did all the quests available to me and got the best gear I could... and discovered that I didn't have enough reputation to do the next quests. I'd thought I'd missed a whole section after castle 3 or something, so I double-checked, but no. Since I'd already done all of the quests for those factions I had to sit there and kill *hundreds* of lame enemies to get the hundreds of reputation points I needed (which is *also* repetitive and not-fun). I know that you wanted the game to be long, but making me spend hours gaining street-cred is a cheap way to do it. =/ And of course, after killing 100 gladiators to get the 500 points I needed with the tracker's, I was rewarded with my quest... of killing 30 more gladiators ><

All in all, I had a really great time until the game got super-repetitive. I was very impressed with the quality of the game, and would love to see more good work from you. Keep up the good work!

Oh, and there also seems to be a glitch involving the river surrounding the first castle. I was on the lower-right corner and saw what looked like a bridge and I somehow fell into the river. I thought this was a feature, until I realized that I couldn't get out of the river and couldn't shoot anyone (I was a ranger) and they couldn't kill me to get me to respawn. I wandered off the north end of the map, which crashed Firefox. =/

Very nice

Nicely done, very professional. Good graphics and smooth gameplay. One thing that ticked me off was that both shots arrived at the target at the same time. Often I'd try to shoot a bomb that was right next to the left cannon. The shot from the left cannon slows down to wait for the right cannon, which got kind of annoying. It would be better if you could fire each cannon individually (ex: fire using the keyboard), or if it automatically fired only the cannon that was closest.

Other than that, very nice game.

Looks really good

I can tell you put a lot of effort into this. Graphics and animation are really good. Gameplay's a little lacking though. The fight degenerates into a button mashing slugfest. Adding blocking, dodging, and a combo system would be really cool (Your right hand could use arrow keys or the mouse for movement maybe?). Anyways, keep up the good work!

Needs acceleration physics

Great idea. Implemented with a great many features too (not a half-assed job like some would-have-been-good ideas that I've seen). Gameplay's a little glitchy though.

If you're up to the challenge, I'd suggest that you modify your game to use acceleration. If you think about it, you'll see that most console platformers do this. You'll have to rework your engine, but it'll look and play way better. It'll also make jumping across things less frustrating (because you'll decelerate at the peak of the jump, giving you more airtime and making it easier to manuever). Feel free to email me if you need help getting started on this.

Good luck! And keep up the good work!

Actually I've taken a physics class in school and acceleration is extremely simple. Unfortunately I started this game way too long ago to have done a more complicated engine. Thanks for the review.

Awesome!

That was something fresh and very well done. It was kinda like madlibs, but animated. Keep up the good work, you got my 5 today =)

A good start

the controls are a bit iffy though. 'w' should be jump if you're using wasd controls. And jumping doesn't really help you... Oh and one time i got hit and was pushed back beyond the left side of the background. Looks promising though. Good luck!

Um... it's not much of a game

It looked pretty good, but shooting at still targets is only mildly amusing... It needs to be more challenging. The enemies need to fight back or something, otherwise you're just shooting fish in a barrel. And don't use shapetween for blood effects. Death animations don't need to be *too* fancy, you can do a short fbf blood splatter and a motion tween fall or something. Still, you have potential. Good luck.

Pretty boring...

Scene creators can be mildly entertaining, but not for very long. You should really try something else. Better luck next time.

Hey, not bad!

Gameplay wasn't too original, but it was pretty good, especially for a first. Graphics were nice and the plot had just enough of a twist to be entertaining. The game would be better if you had to reload after firing x times. It should keep accuracy statistics, score, etc too. Good luck with ch. 2!

Well...

Graphics weren't bad, but the controls were a bit... iffy. It was different, but not polished too much. It's a good start but I know you can do better. Good luck.

I've learned a lot about animation and programming over the years, but wish I had more time to practice...
